MEPs convene to discuss AI definition and governance

Members of European Parliament (MEPs) are expected to discuss two key points in a meeting on Wednesday. These are the definition of artificial intelligence systems, along with the governance structure within the upcoming EU AI Act. Three additional conditions have been added for qualifying AI systems, including that systems "can be designed to operate with varying levels of autonomy." MEPs are also expected to discuss details, including funding and staffing, of an AI Office that could potentially play a central role in enforcement.
