EU Council makes progress on final text for new Data Act

The Council of the European Union, under the Swedish Presidency, is close to reaching a consensus for the final text of the proposed EU Data Act. Concerning the relationship with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the latest text clarifies that the Data Act cannot be used as a legal basis for processing data under the GDPR.
