ePrivacy progress on processing electronic communications data text

The European Parliament and EU Council met for a technical discussion on 10 November about processing electronic communications data, metadata, and content under the proposed ePrivacy Regulation. The EU Parliament's rapporteur Birgit Sippel along with the Czech EU Council Presidency have published a joint non-paper addressing critical parts of the protection of electronic communications, which up to now have been difficult to make progress. While the meeting was inconclusive, the text lays the groundwork for future discussions. Political groups in the Parliament have until 18 November to provide the rapporteur with written feedback.
