DSA and DMA will remain untouched by EU-US trade deal

The European Commission has confirmed that the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA) will not be affected by an upcoming EU-US trade deal. A senior EU official stated during a press briefing that the regulations remain "untouched," despite previous warnings from a top trade lawmaker, Bernd Lange, that the laws could be scrapped to appease the US Trump administration.

However, the Commission's assurances contrast with claims from US counterparts. US Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, said recently that the EU's digital services taxes are an"attack" on US tech firms. Meanwhile, Reuters reports that an internal diplomatic cable from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio calls on EU-based US diplomats to lobby against the DSA, which stifles free speech and imposes costs on American tech companies.
