Google officially retires its Privacy Sandbox initiative
20/10/2025 | Engadget
In a blog article, Google has announced that it has officially retired its Privacy Sandbox initiative. Vice President Anthony Chavez confirmed that the remaining technologies developed under the initiative would be phased out due to their low levels of adoption. While Google will continue its efforts to enhance privacy across Chrome, Android, and the web, it will do so without the Privacy Sandbox branding.
The move follows an announcement by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on 17 October, releasing the company from its commitments under the scheme.
