Global Law Enforcement Treaty undermines privacy

According to the Electric Frontier Foundation (EFF), the recent decision by the Council of Europe Cybercrime Committee to approve a new set of international rules allowing law enforcement access to user data without the necessary privacy protections is nothing short of a disaster for human rights. The EFF is urging countries not to sign the Protocol but fears the CoE will adopt the Treaty in November after it politely refused over 40 civil society organisations' calls to review the text further.
