EDPS reprimands EU border agency for oversharing data with Europol

Following a 2022 investigation and the subsequent publication of an audit report in 2023, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has issued a formal reprimand to the EU border agency (Frontex) for failing to assess whether the sharing of personal information about individuals reported as suspects of cross-border crime with Europol was strictly necessary.
