EDPS publishes opinion on proposed NIS 2.0 Directive

The European Data Protection Supervisor has published its opinion on the Proposal for the Network and Information Systems (NIS) 2.0 Directive, which is part of the European Union's Cybersecurity Strategy. The EDPS welcomed the proposal, stating it will have a positive effect on the security of personal data, communications and the internet. The EDPS added the use of end-to-end encryption is critical to the directive's success and called for closer cooperation between "cybersecurity actors" and the European Data Protection Board.
