EDPS offers support for EU Commission's proposed AI regulations

The European Data Protection Supervisor has his voice in support of the European Commission's proposed AI regulations. EDPS Wojciech WiewiĆ³rowski said the agency "stands ready to fulfil its new role as the AI regulator for the EU public administration." While the EDPS backs the proposed regulations, it once again reiterated its call for a temporary ban on the use of remote biometric identification systems in public areas. 

After the EU Commission published its proposal for AI regulation last week, the IAPP breaks down both the proposal and next steps for the regulation.
