WhatsApp privacy case must be decided within a month

The EDPB has adopted a dispute resolution decision in the Irish DPC's case against WhatsApp Ireland, during its latest plenary session. The EDPB sought to address the lack of consensus between the DPC and the concerned supervisory authorities that objected to portions of the commission's findings against WhatsApp. The EDPB told the DPC to adopt its final decision against WhatsApp "without undue delay and at the latest one month after the EDPB has notified its decision." The IAPP wrote about the dispute-resolution mechanism under the EU GDPR in August last year.
