EDPB releases opinion on codes of conduct monitoring bodies

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has published its opinion on draft accreditation requirements for the codes of conduct monitoring bodies submitted by the Dutch data protection authority (DPA). The EDPB found the criteria set out by the Dutch DPA "may lead to an inconsistent application," particularly as it relates to a monitoring body's independence and effectiveness. Recommendations from the EDPB to ensure the proper application includes notes on conflict of interest and transparent complaint handling.
