EDPB launches tool for parents and educators to help kids stay safe online

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has launched an online learning platform, Privacy for Kids, to provide parents, teachers, and educators with resources to help children understand online privacy.
Developed in collaboration with EU data protection authorities (DPAs), the initiative aims to safeguard the personal data of younger audiences who are more vulnerable online. The EDPB noted that children often struggle to identify risks, may place unwarranted trust in strangers, or share personal information carelessly across applications that collect their data without adequate safeguards, creating long-lasting digital footprints and exposing them to harmful material.
To support educators and parents, the hub includes an intuitive filtering system that organises child-friendly tools, including games, videos, quizzes, infographics, and projects, across multiple categories. Users can filter materials by three age brackets (3–10, 11–15, and 16+), location, and specific subjects such as social media, smartphone applications, cyberbullying, smart toys, online sharing, as well as privacy at home and school.
Training Announcement: Freevacy offers a range of independent data protection qualifications from IAPP and BCS. Our certified courses are available at foundation and practitioner levels and cover multiple legal jurisdictions, data protection operations management, and the implementation of complex privacy solutions in technical environments.
