EDPB & European Commission publish joint GDPR-DMA guidelines
09/10/2025 | EDPB
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the European Commission have released their first-ever joint guidelines, which focus on the interaction between the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Both legal frameworks safeguard individuals in the digital arena, each with distinct but complementary goals: the GDPR addresses individual rights and privacy, while the DMA focuses on the fairness and contestability of digital markets. These new guidelines aim to facilitate the coherent application of both laws and increase legal certainty for gatekeepers and users. A public consultation on the first version of the guidelines has been launched, allowing stakeholders to provide feedback until 4 December 2025.
