The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) are collaborating to develop joint guidelines on information-sharing partnerships to combat financial crime.

In line with Article 75 of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR), which takes effect on 10 July, the initiative aims to address how companies and professionals can share information with each other and public authorities to detect and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing, while fully protecting personal data. As such, the guidelines will establish practical data protection safeguards, providing clear parameters for businesses, supervisors, financial intelligence units, and data protection authorities (DPAs).

To gather industry and stakeholder input, the regulators will host an engagement event later this year to identify areas requiring clarification, followed by a formal public consultation on the draft guidelines during the first half of 2027.
