EDPB adopts statement supporting GDPR simplification and harmonisation

During a high-level meeting in Helsinki on 3 July 2025, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) adopted a statement regarding the proposed initiative to reform certain requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for smaller businesses as well as to strengthen consistency and boost cross-regulatory cooperation.
The EDPB agreed to produce a set of templates for organisations and data protection authorities to streamline data breach reporting and support cross-regulatory notifications.
