The Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (DRCF), whose members include the Information Commission (ICO), Ofcom, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has published a joint statement on safeguarding consumers and businesses from the risks posed by agentic AI technologies.

As the UK prepares for the widespread rollout of personal AI agents, the DCRF reaffirmed that existing regulatory obligations, covering consumer protection, competition, data protection, financial services, online safety, and cybersecurity, continue to apply. The DCRF further cautioned that an AI agent's autonomy does not diminish corporate accountability for legal compliance, warning that regulators will enforce statutory powers against unlawful conduct that risks harm.
