EU reaches provisional agreement on European Health Data Space

The Council of the European Union and the European Parliament have reached a provisional agreement on the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The new rules aim to ensure that patients can access their health data no matter where they are in the EU and provide scientific research with secure data that will benefit the development of health policies. The agreement will need to be endorsed by both the Council and the Parliament before it can be implemented. Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health, Frank Vandenbroucke, lauded the deal, saying it would strongly support patient care and scientific research in the EU.
