The Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) has announced that Stephen Almond, Executive Director of Regulatory Risk at the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), will join the think tank in September as Vice President of Policy and Consulting. Almond will be based in CIPL's London office to help further the company's global data, privacy, and digital policy agenda.

It was confirmed in the ICO's annual report (page 72) that Almond is stepping down on 17 July 2025 and that Tim Capel, Interim General Counsel, and Ian Hulme, Director of Regulatory Assurance, will cover the role on an interim basis for around six months.

Meanwhile, MLex (£) reports that William Malcolm, a senior director for regulatory affairs, privacy advisory and engagement global lead at Google, will take up the vacant ICO role on 26 August.
