A session organised by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) at the Global Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum explored the role of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) in international data transfers. The discussion brought together perspectives from technical, regulatory, policy, and academic fields to examine how PETs could help unlock trusted, large-scale cross-border data flows in the artificial intelligence (AI) era.

The session featured technical presentations on trusted execution environments and differential privacy, as well as a US-UK policy pilot use case and regional views on adoption in Latin America. Key findings highlighted both the growing maturity of PETs deployments and the ongoing structural challenges affecting their widespread adoption.
