Leaked audio shows Chinese TikTok engineers accessed US user data

Chinese TikTok engineers routinely accessed US user data, according to leaked audio from more than 80 internal meetings. The audio also includes employees confirming that Chinese engineers had access to user data between September 2021 to January 2022. During a US Senate hearing in 2021, a TikTok executive claimed that the US operations would decide who was allowed to access US user data. However, it turns out that the recorded audio indicates "US employees had to turn to their colleagues in China to determine how U.S. user data was flowing."
