WhatsApp revises privacy notice in Europe and UK

WhatsApp has been forced to rewrite its privacy notice in Europe and the UK following a €225 million fine issued by the Irish Data Protection Commission over alleged EU GDPR violations. An appeal against the fine has been allowed to proceed in the Irish High Court. WhatsApp said the revisions will “add additional detail around our existing practices” and the update “does not change how we process, use or share user data with anyone, including (parent company) Meta, nor does it change how we operate our service.”
