Ofcom launches fairness and privacy investigation into Married at First Sight UK

Ofcom has launched an official investigation into the Channel 4 reality television series Married at First Sight UK following a fairness and privacy complaint. The regulator confirmed on Monday that it is assessing claims of unjust or unfair treatment brought by a cast member of the show.

Under Ofcom rules, fairness and privacy complaints are submitted directly by programme participants who allege unfair treatment or unwarranted infringements on privacy, with each case evaluated individually through a detailed assessment process. While a previous complaint from another cast member was dismissed after Channel 4 was found to have no case to answer, this new investigation places renewed pressure on the programme.

The investigation follows a BBC Panorama expose in May, which revealed rape allegations made by two female cast members against men on the show, which the accused individuals deny.
