Mediation process to commence in PSNI data breach

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is set to engage in a mediation process to determine the amount of damages to be paid to approximately 7,000 staff affected following the personal data breach in 2023. It is anticipated that the final bill could be as much as £240 million.

The High Court in Belfast has been informed that both parties will commence the mediation process to identify a "universal offer" to present to the staff, although individuals will not be obligated to accept it.

The case has been adjourned until December.
