Lloyds, Bank of Scotland and Halifax apps reveal other customers' financial transactions

Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has launched an internal review following a technical IT glitch that exposed sensitive customer data to unauthorised users. On Thursday morning, customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland reported being able to view the private transaction histories and personal information of other account holders through their mobile apps. One affected user informed BBC News that she could access the accounts of six different individuals, viewing highly sensitive information, including National Insurance numbers.
LBG attributed the breach to an overnight IT bug, stating that the issue was identified and resolved quickly. Lloyds has apologised for the incident, while the Information Commissioner’s Office has confirmed it is aware of the matter and will be making formal enquiries.
