GDPR fines exceeded €1 billion in 2021

New research reveals a record increase in EU General Data Protection Regulation fines year-on-year. According to the data, GDPR fines climbed to over €1 billion. Across the year a total of 412 total penalties were issued, with high profile companies like Amazon and WhatsApp awarded the most significant penalties for breaches of the GDPR laws.
