Meta threat to quit Europe over data regulations backfires

The social media company that cried wolf has found its latest threat (disclosed in an annual financial report) to pull Facebook and Instagram from Europe due to the illegality of international data transfers has drawn positive responses from EU officials. Regulators in the EU have called Meta's bluff, saying that "life is very good without Facebook and that we would live very well without Facebook."

UPDATE: 080222 - Facebook's parent company Meta confirmed that it has no plans to pull its services from Europe.
