UPDATE: WhatsApp update will share data with Facebook

By 8th February, 30m UK users of WhatsApp will have been presented with a notice warning them that the app is “updating its terms and privacy policy”. The updates will affect how the company processes user data and how businesses can integrate WhatsApp’s shopping features with Facebook’s wider business.  The contents of user conversations will still be protected by end-to-end encryption. Meanwhile, Reuters reports rival applications Signal and Telegram see unprecedented growth.
