EU Council agree new data governance framework

On the 1st of October, the Council of the European Union agreed a negotiating mandate for the proposed Data Governance Act. The mandate creates a framework helping companies or individuals share data securely. “Successful digital transformation and achieving our climate goals depend on data-driven innovation, which relies on the availability of data. It is therefore crucial to increase trust in data sharing,” President of the Council Boštjan Koritnik said.

In response to the news, EDRi published an article demanding that the DSA should tackle the root cause of polarisation, not just its symptoms
