Irish Court confirms Twitter's €450K GDPR fine

The Irish Data Protection Commission's €450,000 fine against Twitter has now been confirmed in the Dublin Circuit Court. The decision, finalised in December 2020, stems from Twitter's EU GDPR violations related to a 2019 data breach. The DPC's inquiry involved Twitter's notification of the breach, which exposed accounts of protected Twitter for Android users who changed their email address, finding the company provided notice outside of the mandated 72-hour reporting window.
