World still waiting for US privacy legislation a year after Schrems II

The Brookings Institution reports on the lack of movement on a US privacy law in the year following the Court of Justice of the European Union's Schrems II ruling. Over the past year, the most notable development in Congress was the Setting an American Framework to Ensure Data Access, Transparency, and Accountability Act. The Senate Commerce Committee and the Communications Subcommittee have yet to hold hearings on privacy in 2021.
